ST. LOUIS METRO CARSTAR FAMILY SUPPORTING THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION® NATIONALLY AND LOCALLY

Participating St. Louis Metro CARSTAR locations are making a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® for every car they repair through the end of 2008!  It’s part of the minimum $150,000 that CARSTAR has committed nationally in support of the charity.  In addition, CARSTAR is raising funds and support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® with the CARSTAR SuperStang Muscle Tour!  The CARSTAR SuperStang is a recreation of a unique 1967 Shelby SuperStang Mustang created by the Ford Motor Company, but never marketed to the public.  Jeff Yerkovich, owner of R & A Motorsports, the country’s leading restorer of Shelby Mustangs, oversaw and supported the renovation of the vehicle, which was conducted at CARSTAR A & B of Riverside, Missouri.

The Tour began on Saturday, June 9th, 2007 and will make appearances at auto shows, CARSTAR Collision Repair shops and community events throughout the country, including Cornbread’s “World’s Largest Garage Sale” on August 25th, 2007.  The tour will end with the sale of the CARSTAR SuperStang at an auction in Scottsdale, Arizona in January of 2009, with net proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.

In addition to the national commitment, participating St. Louis Metro CARSTAR locations are offering customers a chance to support the local Make-A-Wish Foundation® with the purchase of special Wish Stars.  Stars may be purchased for a minimum of $1 each and will be displayed with the donor’s name at each CARSTAR location.  The local star campaign will continue at least through the end of August with all proceeds benefiting the local Make-A-Wish Foundation®.

Kurt’s CARSTAR Business After Hours Benefit For

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro St. Louis
A True Success

MARYVILLE, IL-This country has a long history of individuals who have demonstrated great bravery at a time of crisis.  Perhaps one of the best examples of everyday bravery is exhibited by children who are suffering from a life-threatening illness.  Their ability to smile and hope despite all that they are facing provides inspiration for us all.  The example they set and their dreams are what gave rise to what is now the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the largest wish granting organization in the country.

On Thursday, June 28th, 2007, Kurt’s CARSTAR in Maryville, IL hosted a  fundraising “Business After Hours” event to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro St. Louis.  The event was sponsored by CTS Technology Solutions and supported by the Edwardsville-Glen Carbon, Collinsville and Troy Chambers of Commerce along with other local businesses in the area and is part of the fundraising efforts of the eight (8) CARSTAR locations in St. Louis and the Metro East.

$6,000 was raised at event, enabling a wish to be granted to 17 year old Kellsie, who was treated for Osteosarcoma, the most common type of bone cancer.  Kellsie, whose wish was to go on a Caribbean cruise with her family, was at the event and inspired the participants to keep helping make wishes come true for other children and their families.

As part of the alliance between the Make-A-Wish Foundation and CARSTAR nationally, the event featured a special appearance by the CARSTAR “Super ‘Stang,” a re-creation of a unique 1967 Shelby Super ‘Stang Mustang created by the Ford Motor Company, but never made available to the general public.  The “Super ‘Stang” is beginning an 18 month “Muscle Tour” to highlight the minimum $150,000 commitment that CARSTAR has made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation nationally.  At the end of the tour, the vehicle will be auctioned with a portion of the proceeds also going to the cause.
